When Rain Meets Skin: The Bioactive Story Behind Midori Rain

When Rain Meets Skin: The Bioactive Story Behind Midori Rain

"Because a cleanser should do more than cleanse." - By Marie Yeung

The Morning It Started

It always begins with rain…

I can still remember the morning that inspired Midori Rain—the window glass beaded with droplets, the quiet hush outside, that rare pause when the world feels like it’s breathing with you. Steam filled the shower, and as I stepped in, I thought to myself: what if cleansing could feel like this? Not just functional, not just another routine, but an exhale for the skin.

That was the seed of Midori Rain.

The Spark Behind Veluve

Before I became a formulator, I was a designer and marketer—someone who lived in a world of details, textures, and stories. But beauty had always been my language. Veluve was born because I wanted more than “products on a shelf.” I wanted rituals that connect. To me, beauty should be tactile, emotional, and restorative—like rain slipping down your window, or sunlight flickering across your face.

I built Veluve around this principle: that what touches your skin every day should honor it, not strip it. Our story has always been about artistry, small-batch care, and the courage to choose natural integrity over shortcuts.

Designing a Bar That Feels Like Rain

When I began formulating Midori Rain, I asked myself: What does fresh rain feel like on the skin?

It’s not harsh. It’s not aggressive. It’s gentle, renewing, a balance between cool and comfort. I wanted the bar to capture that sensation. That’s why every detail, from the rice protein to the butterfly pea petals, was chosen to echo the natural rhythm of rain: soothing, replenishing, and alive.

Rice Protein & Colloidal Oatmeal bring a silky cushion, like the soft mist that follows a storm.

Aloe & Panthenol cool and hydrate, much like raindrops settling on warm skin.

Butterfly Pea & Vitamin E infuse the bar with antioxidants—a quiet shield, the way clouds soften the sun.

Allantoin smooths and comforts, easing away the rough edges of the day.

And then there’s the scent—the Midori Rain essential oil blend. Bergamot, spearmint, clary sage, frankincense, and benzoin. It’s bright, grounding, and just a touch mysterious. The fragrance lingers like that last inhale before the storm clears.

A Small Ritual, A Larger Story

What makes me proudest isn’t just the formula—it’s what it represents.

Midori Rain is proof that a cleanser doesn’t have to be an afterthought. At Veluve, we don’t use trendy “label actives” at meaningless percentages. We craft with intention—real levels of bioactives that actually make sense in a rinse-off. It’s my quiet rebellion against the industry standard of “big claims, tiny amounts.”

Every bar is poured, pressed, and cut by hand. Every swirl of color and every embossed detail carries the same devotion that I carried on that rainy morning when the idea began.

The Feeling It Leaves

Rain always ends. The sky clears. But your skin shouldn’t feel depleted when the water stops running.

When you step out of the shower with Midori Rain, the difference is in the after-feel: your skin doesn’t just feel “clean.” It feels calm, comforted, and lightly renewed, as though it caught a piece of that fresh start outside your window.

That is the story behind Midori Rain: a body bar that doesn’t just wash away yesterday, but welcomes today.

Closing Thoughts

Veluve has always been my canvas—where I marry art, science, and ritual. With Midori Rain, I wanted to give you more than a cleanser. I wanted to give you a story you could feel in your hands, your senses, and your skin.

Because sometimes, the best beauty isn’t found in the mirror—it’s found in those quiet, rain-soaked mornings, when nature reminds us how simple renewal can be.

With warmth,

Marie Yeung
